Flashback Challenge - Motor Ace

Flashback Challenge #2

Ok, so this one is going to be very short on the grounds of - I have no memory of this album.

Only reason for that is, I bought this album and used to let it play through as background noise while i was learning to drive (LOL)

Okay, so today's album is.....

_____________________________________________________________

Motor Ace - Animal

Animal is the third and final album by Australian post-grunge band Motor Ace, released in 2005. A more reflective CD, it had less emphasis on upbeat rock and was heralded by critics as Motor Ace's most mature work yet. (Wikipedia)

_____________________________________________________________

Ok, so for those who aren't aware... Motor Ace are an Australian band.
They originate from Melbourne and started in 1998.

In my personal opinion- their second album was their best - Shoot This (2002)
Ok, so..... this album is very soft and calming. So, great if you're wanting something playing but nothing too loud or demanding! This album is their final one and if that was where their music was going... thank goodness *long sigh*

Oh well... sorry guys! Nothing really deep to share here!!!!!

Flashback Challenge - Shania Twain - Greatest Hits

Flashback Challenge #1

Today starts my journey on a musical experience that will bring back old memories but also ignite some new ones.

I have gathered a sum of 70 CD's

Among these are a mixture of soundtracks from movies, mixed hits and some I've not fully listened to.
*insert shock and awe*

So without further ramblings.... Here is my first experience:

________________________________________________________________

Shania Twain - Greatest Hits

Greatest Hits is a greatest hits album by Shania Twain, released in 2004 (see 2004 in music). The album contains 17 hits (18 on the International album) from her three Diamond albums The Woman in Me, Come on Over and Up!. Also included are three new songs: "Party for Two" which hit the top ten at country in the U.S. and top ten in UK and Germany, the ballad "Don't!" and "I Ain't No Quitter".(taken from Wikipedia)

Ok, so... I haven't actually listened to this album. I bought it and shelved it. Haha.
However, I remember back when "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" came out (1999)

I was in primary school at the time, my mum was trying to find herself as a single parent.

Fighting in the family courts and also battling other personal issues. We had just moved into our 2nd rental home in Kelmscott.

Mum had this large stereo with a 6 CD turn table.

Loved that thing... however it also creeped me out at times!!! (but that's a different story)

Mum used to crank up some Shania Twain while she was cleaning the house or just to enjoy the "Female Powerhouse" feeling in the late afternoons.

I would join in, singing out loudly with mum. I really love looking back on those days.

Back then, when mum wasn't crying, it was a great day!

She was struggling greatly and I was too young at the time to truly understand or appreciate what was going on. All i knew was, we weren't a full family anymore.

So a lot of pain and anguish accompanies Shania Twain for me.
However, that doesn't take away from some truly fun dancing songs!!!
"Come On Over" & "That don't Impress me much" are another 2 i truly enjoyed to bop along too!

Shaking my patootie around the lounge room.
These songs make me think of summer.
Hot.... dry..... HOT summer *insert sweaty butt cracks*
Urgh, that house was always ridiculously hot!!!

So, in the afternoons when it would cool- We would open the doors up and windows, let the music blast and dance out the front of the house on the lawn under the hose.

Cheapest way to cool off back then!

All of this was happening around the time Titanic came out now that i think about it.... South Park was also airing season 1 on SBS. To which, I was banned from watching as it aired at 9/10pm (cant remember that much) and i was supposed to be in bed for school.

Even back then, I enjoyed the sick humour! LOL

"From This Moment On" was a more emotional song for me.

On my sad days, I honestly just longed for my family to be together again.

I wanted a dad in my life... still do. Well, I do have one- but ever since the Divorce, I find it really difficult to get close to father figures.

That's more of an eternal battle. Doubt i will truly over come that damage.

But, Yes, I would sit in the window and stare out to the nights sky (usually) and just wish upon the stars to bring my family back.

Kind of heart breaking to think about isn't it?
(Yes, I am writing this as I am listening to the CD)
I am only going to comment on songs that did actually impact me back then. So in short, a very beautiful song but it opens up a lot of old wounds.
Now on with the musical journey!!!

"Honey, I'm Home" HAHA This song is lots of fun! It's got attitude!!!

It's got that country music feel to it! Love the "Daisy Duke" feel i get from this song!

"You're Still The One"...... i remember hearing this a lot at weddings. This was in the Australian Top Charts when it came out (1998). Played a lot on the radio stations. Honestly, not heard this song in years. Kinda nice.

"Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You" is rather catchy! Fun to listen too and probably needs to be said to a few people these days (although most seem to take offence to such comments these days)

Oh dear... so many songs! HAHA!!
Well, in short- Shania Twain has an amazing voice and is extremely talented!
Her music has brought joy to many and also helped them search their deepest feelings in times of despair.

I do find her hard to listen too due to what i went through when all these popular songs came out, however- I wont deny there is a small place in my heart reserved for her beautiful voice!

FIND THIS ALBUM HERE ON SPOTIFY

On that note.... have a wonderful evening!!!

I will post again in a weeks time.

Feel free to join in if you feel inspired to!
#FlashbackChallenge #FBC #MusicFlashBack #ChallengeYourself

So, I am challenging myself to listen through each and every CD i still own.... Which is a fair amount but not as much as to drive myself insane (LOL)
Now... The CD that's inspired me to do so, is one of my utter faves!!!!

BLINK 182#Blink182

Blink-182 is the self-titled (or untitled as stated by Mark Hoppus) fifth studio album by American rock band of the same name, released on November 18, 2003 by Geffen Records(taken from -Wikipedia)

Ok.... so.
If you know me well- You will know just how much i ADORE Blink 182.
Now, I have my reasons...mmk!??
Okay so, this is the album where they totally changed their sound!!! Which was huge after only a few hits in the pop charts (Thanks to American Pie too!)

But, i remember back when this album was announced to be released- and I literally BEGGING my mum to take me to the CD Store (#Sanity) so that i could place a
PRE-ORDER!!
I had saved up all my spending money and any money left over from lunches at school, just to pay the $23.95 for it!!! (which was a lot of money for a kid with no job)
That moment i knew it was release day- Year 11 - and just itching to get out of school so mum would take me down there to get it, take it home, put it in my stereo and just experience it for the first time!?
Blasting it louder every time you turn it on straight after school.

I would disappear, crank my music and not appear except for snacks or toilet breaks.
I used to just LOVE zoning out to a single CD!!
Was very calming to me and helped me think about things.

So this is it!! I'm going to re-live my adolescence in a way that will be an experience for my mind but also a reminder of what I enjoyed back then!
So who's with me!?
If you are blogging about this, hashtag #FlashbackChallange #FBC
That's it for this idea!! See you around

(if anyone is reading this of course!)
